I Knew I’d Be Back

During the Christmas Season, the bell ringer volunteers help to provide hope in the community. So many people are being contacted to stand by a kettle to help raise much needed funds for Salvation Army Programs in Whitby.

There are always glitches in the schedule as I pivot to fill the vacant spots sometimes within a moments notice. On one such occasion I reached out to one of last years volunteers on a whim hoping that she could come to our rescue. She did and her words were as Ken proceeded to hand off the bells to her, “I knew I’d be back!” and she pulled out her own set of bells and started to ring and with a smile on her face, she covered the shift.

Oh this did my heart so good to know that a first time volunteer was excited to come back and share hope and a bit of kindness with the community.

So if you are looking to spread kindness and hope to the community why not volunteer with us for a Kettle today.  For more information in Whitby sign up to be a volunteer at SAWhitby.ca
